Hurricane Florence is one of the worst storms to hit North Carolina, ever. CEFS' Field Research, Education, and Outreach Facility at Cherry Research Farm is located in Goldsboro, one of the hardest-hit areas of the state. NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Research Station Manager Andy Meier and his crew have gone above and beyond -- as they always do in extreme situations -- to protect and care for livestock on the farm and minimize damage to crops and infrastructure.
CEFS’ NC Choices initiative is seeking a full-time Technical Niche Meat Program Coordinator who excels at building relationships with multiple stakeholders, is comfortable managing and moving a process from concept to implementation, makes key business and market-buyer connections, and can translate technical content into on-the-ground assistance for livestock farmers and allied meat business partners.
This Research Scholar position will be a core member of the CEFS team and must be able to work and collaborate with a diverse group (including faculty, administrators, graduate and undergraduate students, technicians, field staff, farmers, supply chain businesses, and other organizations) on work that spans the entire food system. The position will have research, extension, and academic/teaching responsibilities within CEFS.
The new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems is a cross-departmental program offered through the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and Horticultural Science.
