Farm to Fork NC 2019
Sunday, June 2: Farm to Fork Picnic at Fearrington Village in Pittsboro | 4 – 7 pm
A joyous celebration of local foods and the people who artfully produce and prepare them, Bon Appétit magazine called it “the country’s best all-you-can-eat feast”! We’ll return to the beautiful grounds of Fearrington Village, where dozens of our area’s best chefs, farmers, artisan producers and beverage providers will create a dizzying array of delectable dishes highlighting the bounty of the season. The Picnic also features fun activities for children, live music, and surprises for the whole family!
Thursday, September 5: Annual Sustainable Agriculture Lecture with Dr. Monica White at Lavender Oaks Farm in Chapel Hill | 6 – 9 pm
Dr. Monica M. White is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Justice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is the President of the Board of Directors of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network. Her research investigates communities of color and grassroots organizations that are engaged in the development of sustainable, community food systems as a strategy to respond to issues of hunger and food inaccessibility. She is the author of Freedom Farmers: Agricultural Resistance and the Black Freedom Movement. After Dr. White’s lecture we’ll enjoy a delicious meal prepared by prominent area chefs, libations by local beverage purveyors, and live music.
