Essential Job Duties

This position offers work with the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) with the Small Farm Unit in Goldsboro, NC. This position will provide a lot of experience doing field work mainly related to organic horticulture production and grounds maintenance.

This position will under the guidance of the CEFS Small Farm Unit Manager.

The day to day duties of this position may include any of the following:
-Assist the small farm unit staff with organic vegetable production including planting, harvesting, trellising, pruning, fertilizing, and plant upkeep for use in extension workshops, tours, and outreach.
-Support with general farm upkeep such as weeding and mowing, so farm shows well in extension and outreach events.
-Provide assistance on various research projects happening on the farm.

Minimum Experience/Education

-High school degree

 
Departmental Required Skills -Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
-Must be able to work above 8 hours a day if needed
-Must have a valid NC drivers license. 
Preferred Experience/Skills

-Experience using large equipment such as tractors and different implements is desired but not required.
