2020 Sustainable Agriculture Apprenticeship Program – Raleigh & Goldsboro
Due to the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) crisis, we are not starting any new apprenticeship. Once normal operations resume at NC State University we will update the application process. Thank you for your patience.
The Center for Environmental Farming Systems’ Sustainable Agriculture Apprenticeship Program seeks highly motivated individuals from a variety of different backgrounds to participate in a hands-on work and study program that trains participants in many aspects of sustainable agriculture production and research.
Apprenticeships are offered in several different focus areas; apprentices apply to the specific apprenticeship that best fits their skills, interests, and goals. The 2020 Sustainable Agriculture Apprenticeships are being offered at CEFS’ Field Research, Education, and Outreach Facility at Cherry Research Farm in Goldsboro, NC and at the NC State University Agroecology Education Farm in Raleigh, NC. Apprenticeship appointments are for six or nine months, with two starting in March, and one starting in May.
During that time, Apprentices will have the opportunity to:
- Immerse themselves in agricultural production and field research, spending up to 40 hours a week as an integral part of a team
- Work with a highly diverse team of educators from North Carolina State University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
- Interact with other Apprentices at various research units and sites
- Participate in field trips to local farms
