Essential Job Duties:
The Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) Tropical Spiderwort eradication program is seeking a highly-motivated individual to help us scout and remove tropical spiderwort from CEFS’ Field Research, Education, and Outreach Facility at Cherry Research Farm in Goldsboro, NC. The majority of the scout’s work will focus on scouting crop fields and border areas by foot and by Gator. If a plant is found it is marked with a flag, GPS located and then dug up and bagged for disposal. A monthly calendar is created to outline fields to be scouted that week. Many of the fields are in corn and so each corn row must be walked. Other fields are in hay or pasture. Conditions can be hot and difficult on occasion, but breaks and drinking water are encouraged.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 30-40 hrs per week

Minimum Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
Departmental Required Skills:
-Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
-Ability to work in inclement weather including heat
-Have exceptional attention to detail
-Self-motivated and reliable
-Ability to use or learn to use basic GPS technology
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
-Previous coursework or applicable experience identifying plants
-Previous field experience
-Able to be flexible with schedule, Monday-Friday to work around weather conditions
