The Center for Environmental Farming Systems is hiring a seasonal technician to work on the specialty fruit and vegetable production at the Small Farm Unit in Goldsboro, NC. The position is available immediately with a competitive wage rate based on experiences and skills. Workload will be approximately 30-40 hours per week. Tasks include seeding, transplanting, weeding, field preparation, plot management, high tunnel management, and supporting training and demonstration events. This position will be perfect for someone who is interested in farming and wants to start a farm in the future. CEFS will also provide educational training workshops as a career development strategy. Although this is a temporary position, future funding is available for continuous support.

The technician needs to have the following knowledge and skills:

  1. General horticultural operations, including open field and high tunnels.
  2. Equipment and machinery operation, including tractor, mower, tiller, and other small tools.
  3. Prefer to have previous farming experiences or commercial farming operation practices.
