North Carolina State University seeks a Research Technician in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences to support their diverse disciplines that encompass research, extension and teaching. 

Essential Responsibilities: The Research Technician will conduct field studies focusing on different aspects of sustainable agriculture with a focus on climate change mitigation and adaption, including studies examining/measuring greenhouse gas emissions, cover crops, fertilization techniques and water quality as impacted by best management practices. They will also manage lab studies and sample preparation, processing and analysis for a variety of parameters.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of hourly workers assisting in field work.
  • Training of graduate students and hourly employees.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with soil and plant sampling.
  • Experience operating field sampling machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and make scientifically informed decisions in the field and in the laboratory.
  • Ability to work in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in soil science. 
  • Experience with maintenance of field sites and management of field crop plots.
  • Experience with soil chemical extractions and greenhouse gas emissions is preferred.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm in Raleigh, NC.
