On-Farm Research
Based on measurement trials in 107 fields on 10 farms, the project team developed an easy to use protocol for farmers to measure the volume and quality of produce left in the field. The protocol provides farmers and agricultural educators with a tested process to make accurate estimates of the amount of potentially marketable product that remains in the field. Using these estimates, farmers can communicate estimated volumes and obtain prices from buyers, and then make an informed decision on harvest. Preliminary data and updates will be available over the next few months.
