The Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS) is seeking an Event Program Assistant. The Event Program Assistant will provide event logistics support services to admin staff with the CEFS Business and Events Team.  In addition, this position will stay up-to-date on program policies and procedures to effectively communicate them to clients, problem solve as needed, and maintain accounts and records to support event reporting needs. Finally, this position will play an important role in the CEFS Business and Events Team and operate under the direction and supervision of the administrative lead of the organization.

Major job responsibilities include:

  • Event planning and logistics for all CEFS events, both in person and virtual.
  • Organizing event materials and electronic resources to promote efficient event timelines.
  • Management of various events and projects simultaneously.
  • Simple yet crucial AV set up for CEFS events, including maintenance and recommendations of replacement schedule for AV equipment
  • Communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and the general public via email, Zoom, and phone.
  • Consistent follow up to ensure paperwork has been processed by the state
  • Administrative duties such as processing financial paperwork, setting up event folders, scheduling meetings, and data entry

Work Schedule

The Event Program Assistant will work 10 to 20 hours a week. Some nights, early mornings and weekend work will be required during events or busy seasons (1-3 per month).   Some overnight travel will be required for events.  Most events are scheduled a year ahead of time.  With exception to certain event blackout dates, the schedule is somewhat flexible.

Minimum Experience/Education 

Pursuit of a BA/BS in Business Administration, Accounting, Communication, Marketing, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Agroecology, Agriculture or related field preferred. Students enrolled at NC State University are strongly preferred.

Departmental Required Skills:

The position requires excellent organizational skills, communication skills, follow-up skills, time management and computer and database management skills. Candidates must have an interest in sustainable agriculture.  Drivers license is required as event related deliveries, pick-ups and travel is required in a state vehicle.

An excellent work ethic and genuine interest in the work of CEFS is required. Candidate must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods of time. Preferred experience with MS word.  Candidate must be an expert in Google Suite products and Zoom.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

This position prefers a well rounded individual with the ability to solve problems under stressful event situations.  Experience in a busy office setting is preferred, as well as experience in event planning. Candidate should be reliable and a team player in this fast paced environment. Sense of humor and pleasant demeanor is helpful as the events team works long days in tight spaces.

Anticipated Hiring Range – $10/hr
