We are hiring a Community-Based Food Systems Research Scholar to work with a multi-partner team: North Carolina (NC) Cooperative Extension, the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), and P1tLab. This team will be facilitating a community-led strategic planning process for a three-county region entitled Visioning Our Future: Bladen, Columbus, Robeson. The project is funded by the Kate B. This is a 16-month full-time position, with potential for renewal depending on funding. Primary responsibilities include leading community engagement; community-based research, assessment, and evaluation; and project management. This position will work under the direction of the NC 10% Campaign Program Director and other members of the project management team.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or Master’s degree with at least 5 years of formal post-degree professional experience with concentrations in the areas of community-based food systems, sustainable agriculture, rural or community development, education, public health or nutrition, or related field.

Demonstrated experience in community-based participatory research.
