FAQ

When is the application due?

Applications are due Friday, August 18th, 2023 by 5:00 PM.  Notice of any deadline extension will appear on the home page.

Where do I send my application?

The application will need to be filled out electronically and submitted online. A link to the online application form can be found on the home page and the apply page.

Am I eligible to apply if I am not an undergraduate student?

FIRE participants may either be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a two-year or four-year college or university or have graduated from one of those programs in the past 6 months.

When will I be notified if I have been accepted?

We plan to notify all applicants of admission status by September 5th, 2023.

Is there a stipend or other benefits provided for the program?

Interns will be paid $15 an hour for up to 15 hours a week for 26 weeks during the academic year.

How are payments disbursed?

Interns will be temporary biweekly employees of North Carolina State University. Interns must clock in and out via the Wolftime app in Mypack Portal. Payments are made every two weeks on Friday. They will be disbursed through direct deposit to your personal bank account.

Will this be in person or remote?

In-person opportunities will depend on your host food council. Most of these positions will be remote support.
