Community Food Strategies
Food councils are cross-sector groups working to create more resilient food systems – food environments that nourish the land, people, and communities. To adapt to climate change and create more food resiliency, food councils are highlighting structural inequities in the food system, building a strong foundation of partnerships, and establishing relationships with key decision makers and policy makers.
Climate change mitigation efforts must include more community voices from the populations that are most directly impacted. The negative impacts of climate change affect communities of color first and disproportionately. Therefore, CFS work starts with addressing structural racism, and uplifting black and brown voices in the analysis and solution building.
