NC Volunteer Opportunities
  • NC Volunteer Opportunities): Food Assistance:
    This NC gov resource includes food bank information from across the state so that you can volunteer or donate. This resource also includes information on how to pack and deliver food, and best practices to ensure your and others safely.
Virtual Volunteer Opportunities 
  • Operation Senior Smiles:
    Create handmade cards that include poems, positive messages, a drawing, etc. Once your card(s) are done send them to The Center for Volunteer Caregiving. This organization is offering grocery shopping and pickup/delivery services for adults aged 60+ in Wake County, and the cards will be distributed with the groceries.

  • Inter-Faith Food Shuttle (Raleigh):

  • A Helping Hand (Durham):
    A Helping Hand provides support to senior citizens, especially those with disabilities. The group is collecting canned food, non-perishables, household goods and cleaning supplies to distribute to senior citizens. You can donate online to support this effort.
  • A Place at the Table: (Raleigh):
    A Place at the Table, a cafe located in downtown Raleigh, allows customers to pay what they can afford. They are currently seeing increased demand, serving more than 200 meals per day to those who are hungry and unable to pay. The cafe is open for curbside service Wednesday through Sunday for breakfast and lunch. Learn more about A Place at the Table and make a donation to support their efforts on their website.

    Food justice is racial justice. Food and agriculture, like everything in this country, are deeply intertwined with our nation’s entrenched history of slavery and structural racism. Our food system actively silences, marginalizes, and disproportionately impacts people of color, who are also being hardest hit by COVID-19.

    by the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. More than 160 farms across North and South Carolina have added on-farm pickups, home delivery & online pre-orders to accommodate for social distancing in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
