Join CEFS and N.C. Cooperative Extension for the Lunch & Learn Webinar Series for 2026.

Melissa Bell, CEFS Field Research, Education, and Outreach Liaison, will discuss how companion planting helps you harness natural processes to build a healthier farm or garden.  Placing plants strategically can boost pollination, suppress weeds, and improve soil fertility. This session provides practical, research-informed guidance on which pairings work best and which to avoid based on soil, sunlight, and season. You will also learn about the benefits of using cover crops in your farm or garden and learn about planting rates based on any scale. Rethink your farm or garden layout and maximize productivity while minimizing inputs. This session is suitable for all growers interested in sustainable soil management and plant biodiversity.
