The Center for Environmental Farming Systems and N.C. Cooperative Extension are hiring a Temporary Farm Manager to work at the Small Farm Unit in Goldsboro, NC. The position is available immediately with a competitive wage rate based on experiences and skills.
Requirements
CEFS is seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of general research experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Workload will be approximately 30 hours per week. A rental house is available if relocation is needed for the production seasons. This position will be perfect for someone who is interested in farming and wants to start a farm in the future. CEFS will also provide educational training workshops as a career development strategy. Although this is a temporary position, future funding is available for continuous support.
Driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited university in an agriculture-related field or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities with an undergraduate degree in agriculture and 3 or more years of experience in whole farm planning and operation, organic/sustainable small fruit and vegetable production, and high tunnel management in substitution.
Skills
Demonstrate skills in operating, adjusting, maintaining, and performing basic repairs to farm equipment such as mid-size tractors, disks, hand sprayers, planters, transplanter, plastic layer, mowers, and irrigation equipment.
