Adaptive grazing is a holistic approach to grazing that takes into account the soil, plants, and animals. One of the key components of adaptive grazing is the use of electric fences. Electric fences are used to create temporary paddocks that allow livestock to be grazed more intensively. There are three components of an electric fence: an energizer, the fence itself, and the grounding system. The energizer sends an electrical pulse down the fence, which shocks the animal if it touches it. The fence itself can be made of a variety of materials, such as poly wire or barbed wire. The grounding system is critical for the proper operation of the electric fence. It helps to complete the electrical circuit and deliver the shock to the animal. By following these tips, you can use electric fences to improve the health of your pastures and your livestock.
