Join us for an informative and engaging afternoon focused on food entrepreneurship, local food systems, and market readiness. This event is ideal for food business owners, farmers, value-added producers, and anyone interested in using a commercial kitchen or selling food products in North Carolina.

We’ll kick off with a guided tour of a commercial kitchen, led by Jessica Mollet, Madison County Extension FCS Agent, who will walk participants through the equipment, setup, and considerations for using shared kitchen space.

Next, Cynthia Fissell from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture (NCDA) will cover key state regulations and compliance requirements you need to understand before producing or selling food products.

After a short break, Jennifer Badger, Extension ASA Agribusiness Specialist, will provide an introduction to identifying and understanding your target market, helping you align your product with the right consumers.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow your existing food business, this event will provide valuable information, resources, and networking opportunities. This event is co-hosted in collaboration with NC Cooperative Extension & NC Small Business Center
