Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop

UPDATE 10/15/2018: The Introduction to Beekeeping Workshop originally scheduled for September 12 and postponed due to Hurricane Florence has been rescheduled for October 24.
This half-day workshop for farmers and agents focuses on learning the basics of beekeeping. This workshop will include instruction and the opportunity to view materials, products, and techniques utilized in beekeeping. The Beekeepers of the Neuse maintain the apiary at the Small Farm Unit.
- Gain knowledge about adding bees to your farm operation, caring for them, and how they interact with crops.
- Learn about the products utilized in beekeeping, what is necessary for a beginner set up, and how to get assistance as you start your operation.
- Hear from local beekeepers who are experienced in caring for their hives and producing honey.

- History of beekeeping
- How to get started in beekeeping
- Managing healthy hives

About the Beekeepers of the Neuse:
Beekeepers of the Neuse is a beekeepers association that meets in Wayne County, but whose members hail from Wayne, Wilson, Lenoir, Pitt and counties beyond. Meetings are held at 7pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Wayne Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
