Enhancing Farm Profitability (Newton)
January 19, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
| $20Are you (or your farmers) losing money with every carrot bunch they sell? This workshop will provide helpful resources for assisting small to mid-scale diversified vegetable producers with farm profit management. Participants will learn about various tools currently available to assist farmers with farm profit management. We will then go into detail on the Veggie Compass tool, using it as an example of how farm profitability tools can help vegetable farmers better understand profitable and unprofitable aspects of their enterprises.
This tool is one way to encourage the farmers to: keep the records that matter; determine the true costs of production; determine which crops are actually making a profit; determine which market channels are making a profit and then what to do with all this information to make decisions. Hundreds of growers around the South have participated in training on Veggie Compass and have provided overwhelming reviews of the tool.
