Financial Analysis and Budget Planning for Small Farmers

| $10This workshop offers participants a simple and easy-to-use record keeping system and farm financial analysis using Excel. Dr. Kathleen Liang will work through record keeping categories, depreciation, insurance, loan payment, monthly expense and income forecast, monthly cash flow statement, monthly income statement, and link all information to a farm balance sheet. Leeanna Bunch and Matt Ball from the CEFS Small Farm Unit will be available to answer technical questions regarding the seeds, supplies and equipment used in the record keeping system – which is based off a mixed annual vegetable research plot.

About Dr. Kathleen Liang: Professor, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University
Since 2016, Dr.Liang has served as the W. K. Kellogg Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Agriculture and the Director of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems at N.C. A&T, supporting N.C. Cooperative Extension agents, small farmers, and other professionals statewide. Her research interests include: multifunctional agriculture, entrepreneurship, rural development, food systems, food networks.
