Food Youth Initiative

The Food Youth Initiative engages youth in raising awareness of climate justice and community resilience. FYI youth and adult allies have been attending the NC Climate Justice Summit yearly since 2016 and have developed language and relationships with groups across the state that are organizing around climate justice. The FYI 2020 Summer Gathering is focused explicitly on climate change/justice.  In 2020 FYI started a year-long fellowship program for ‘Climate Impact Fellows’ for youth to engage in Climate Justice learning, while working on community garden projects using intentional practices to reduce carbon emissions.
