New Views on Meat Prices

In the fall of 2021, NC Choices observed prices from nine mainstream grocery stores and 16 farms that sell at farmers markets in the Greater Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. We found that farm prices for beef, pork, and lamb were higher than in grocery stores.

2018 Niche Meat Survey Results

This excel spreadsheet summarizes findings from the 2018 NC Choices’ statewide niche meat survey. Survey Methodology, Limitations, and Analysis: Potential respondents consisted of the 74 individuals on the NCDA&CS list of registered meat handlers who had responded to the NC Choices 2016 and 2013 statewide surveys. The interviewer made three attempts by phone to reach respondents. Of the total of 74 total calls, 47 people agreed to participate in the survey, for a response rate of 64%. It is impossible to know if survey respondents are representative of those who were not reached or refused to take the survey.
