This year’s conference offers an opportunity for networking and will provide useful information for attendees who are looking for new ideas and methods in leadership, interested in forging collaborative adult-youth partnerships or value their personal skill development and growth. Across the state, there are many resources and programs aimed at providing people with tools they need in this area of work, but this will be an attempt to bring some of those resources together in one place.

The grassroots leadership conference is hosted in a partnership with our state advisory council volunteers and this annual event allows us to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders throughout North Carolina.

This event would appeal to the following groups: community leaders, county-based Extension staff, program partners, service providers, high school and college students, Extension advisory leaders, and any other individuals interested in leadership and community engagement.

Dynamic speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities will be offered. Some of the workshop sessions include:

  • Generational Leadership will share how to bridge the generational divide and recognize the diversity each group brings to a community effort.
  • Extreme Makeover will explore mastering soft skills for professional and personal success.
  • The Blessing and the Curse of Social Media will discuss how youth and adults can utilize technology to make a difference in their community.
  • All for One will share facilitation skills to unite youth and adults as teammates and leaders.
  • Understanding the Leader in You will explore leadership styles.
